Who we are

The Brigitte Trust is an independent, Queen’s Award winning charity with over thirty years’ experience of providing vital emotional support and practical help, at home, to people with life threatening conditions such as Cancer, MS, heart failure and MND, and to their families and carers.

We have the experience, high service standards and economies of scale that makes commissioning us straightforward and effective.  As well as working with local commissioners, we have a successful partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support.

Our values and vision

Our values are those held by our founder Brigitte Watkin and her friends who set up the Brigitte Trust in 1984:

  • Empathy
  • Teamwork
  • Trust
  • Respect
  • Dedication

Our volunteers

The volunteers of the Brigitte Trust are recipients of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2015 (the MBE for charities) in recognition of their care and support for our clients.

A Brigitte Trust Client says...

“I truly felt that on the days my volunteer visited that I could take a tiny step back and by myself – me – for an hour or two. This gave me a little bit of normality in what was a rollercoaster of a time. The support I received made me feel less isolated too”.

One of our Volunteers says...

“We are in the unique position of being neither a family member nor a friend, and very often that can make us a useful sounding board to vent the strong emotions and worries which life-threatening illness can bring….it can be a fulfilling and humbling experience and the feedback we get from our clients endorses the fact that we really do make a difference”.
