SCUK- a local Harley Davidson Riders Club- chose us as their Charity of the Year, raising an amazing £1055 for our cause! Here’s how they did it…
“We are SCUK- a local Harley Davidson riders club with 140 members, who choose an organisation to support for a year. This year the members chose The Brigitte Trust, a small local charity that work within the boundaries where most members live.
Our main charity fund raiser Mo Smith organised a 50/50 raffle at our monthly club nights. As members had the chance to win half of the prize money, ticket sales were good! We also had a Skittles night where five teams of five competed in friendly rivalry over several rounds, with the top three teams being awarded medals. This was a great night and included food, drinks and Mo’s 50/50 raffle.
The main charity event of the year was The Poker Run. This involves our members riding to prearranged points to pick up a playing card, and at the end point whoever has the best poker hand is the winner! Members pay to take part and the event is always well supported.
We put together an End of Season party at the beginning of November during which the total raised was announced: we made a fantastic £1055 for the Trust!” -Linda, Club Member
Lesley Potter, one of our Trustees, went along to the cheque presentation and was greeted by warm smiles and the rev of motorbike engines! She said the members were keen to support a small, local charity, and really enjoyed holding different events throughout the year.
