As our latest volunteer training course comes to an end, we’d like to talk about why our volunteers are such a vital part of our Charity.

Next week, our newest group of volunteers will have finished their training, and will soon be ready to provide emotional, practical and social support to those living with a terminal illness. The group of eight were fantastic to work with, and we wish them all the best going forward!
Without our volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do- providing emotional, practical and social support to people living in the Surrey area while facing the struggles of a terminal illness. Brigitte Trust Volunteers attend a bespoke training course and, once fully trained, will visit clients in their homes or in hospices and hospitals, helping to make the day a little more manageable. Meeting and supporting people from all walks of life, each with their own unique story to share, our volunteers frequently express what a meaningful experience it is to be alongside someone during such a difficult period of their lives. Offering their time to listen can make such a difference to someone dealing with anxiety and change.
Here’s what some of our volunteers have said about their time with us;
“I love it. I have been so lucky to have met wonderful and courageous people who would not normally have come into my life. I’ve been doing this for ten years now, it’s here in my heart.” – LYNDA, VOLUNTEER
“There’s a lot of help that you can give people, and I think it’s so rewarding, I enjoy it. The training was excellent, and it really opened my eyes to so many new things. Give it a go- if you don’t it, if it’s not for you, that’s fine, but I think you should give it a go.” – STEVE, VOLUNTEER
“To be able to be a small part of somebody’s life and to learn their story is a joy and a privilege.” – SUSAN, VOLUNTEER
